Applications accepted February 1 – March 15 each year

Play It Forward is a higher-education music scholarship fundraiser dedicated to helping a talented young artist take the next step toward their dreams.

Gather Required Materials

Complete the application in full and include all of the following supporting materials. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Essay

Write up to 500 words about your interest in your chosen field of study and what drives your passion for it.

Test Scores

Include a copy of your ACT or SAT scores, if applicable.

Transcript

Prospective students should submit their high school transcript. Students already enrolled in college should provide their current college transcript.

Letter(s) of Recommendation

At least one letter from a teacher, coach, mentor, or another adult who knows you well and can speak to your character and abilities.

Audio / Video Samples

Submit an audio or video essay of your candidacy along with samples of your work. MP3, MP4, or similar formats accepted. Links may be emailed to scholarship@columbusblues.com.

Submit by March 15

Mail your completed application and all required materials to the Columbus Blues Alliance during the open submission window: February 1 – March 15.

Compliance Review

The Board of Trustees reviews all submitted applications to verify they meet program guidelines and eligibility requirements.

Selection Vote

When multiple qualified applicants are identified, the Executive Board and Trustees vote to determine the recipient. Priority consideration is given to participants in the 614 Blues Ed program.

Award Notification

All applicants will be notified of the selection outcome following the vote by the Executive Board and Trustees.

Eligibility Note: Children or dependents of Columbus Blues Alliance Executive Board members are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
