The Columbus Blues Alliance has two educational programs for school-aged kids:

  • Blue In The Schools
  • 614 BluesEd

Blues In The Schools (BITS) is focused on educating children of various ages on blues music and culture. It is often presented in local schools and includes any combination of: presentations & speaking, audio-visual materials, and performances. It can also take the form of artist-in-residence where professional blues performers instruct a group of students how to play instruments, how to play blues music, or even rehearse for an end-of-week recital.

614 BluesEd is a program of training and coaching pre-formed groups of musicians to participate in the Columbus Blues Challenge, possibly travel to Memphis for the IBC, and even paid performances at events!
